OK, I lied. I said last Friday’s interview with Ryan Coyne was the end of Fight Week. Just kidding. I was lucky enough to hunt down Urijah Faber for an exclusive on the show.
Urijah is the main event at UFC 132 on July 2nd where he takes on Dominick Cruz for the UFC Bantamweight title. It is going to be a good one.
In this interview, of course we discuss the fight and Urijah’s career, but the beginning is a bit different as we discuss nutrition and healthy eating and there are some tips you can take and use right away (spoiler alert: coconuts). Enjoy!
About Today’s Guest, Urijah Faber:
Urijah Faber is a mixed martial artist currently fighting as a bantamweight in the UFC organization. Faber won the WEC featherweight championship at WEC 19 on March 17, 2006 and held the title for over two years until his loss to Mike Brown at WEC 36 on November 5, 2008. As of May 2011, Faber is ranked the #3 bantamweight in the world by Sherdog. Faber holds notable victories over Dominick Cruz, Jens Pulver, Eddie Wineland and Takeya Mizugaki. For his full bio, check out his Wikipedia page.

Final installment of fighting week here on The Rise To The Top!
“The Irish Outlaw” Ryan Coyne (16-0 6 KO’s) will be fighting undefeated David McNemar
looking to take the title from Guillermo Jones (37-3 29 KO’s) in St. Louison June 25th on HBO.About Today’s Guest, Ryan Coyne:
In his own words:
I found boxing as a second love, so to speak. Coming out of high school I was a heralded football recruit. I went to the University of Missouri to pursue a Division 1 football career. A football career wasn’t in the cards for me, and after leaving Mizzou I wandered into the boxing club to continue my athletic aspirations. While working part time and attending college full time, I made boxing my true full time endeavor. After a brief and successful four year amateur career, I set my sights to the professional ranks where I look to make Ryan Coyne a household name and inspiration for everyone who believes in second chances.Last year I got the opportunity of a lifetime to be on the boxing reality show The Contender. I found myself living and fighting with 16 of the best cruiserweights in the world far from the confines of home in the island nation of Singapore. After winning both of my fights in the tournament and fighting successfully into the semifinals of the tournament, I had the misfortune of being medically disqualified with a nasty cut above my eye from a head butt in a brutal victory against Brockton brawler Tim ‘The Hammer’ Flamos(20-4).
My success on The Contender caught the eye of legendary promoter Don King who recently signed me to a multi-year promotional contract.

Fight week continues on The Rise To The Top!
Today’s guest, Devon Alexander, will be the main event on HBO Boxing on June 25th live from St. Louis, Missouri.
It is going to be a big night on Saturday, June 25th at the Family Arena in St. Charles (St. Louis, Missouri). HBO Boxing After Dark returns to town for an amazing card. The two featured fights are going to be fantastic. I’m looking forward to being there and you should come out as well.
The main event features St. Louis native Devon Alexander “The Great” (21-1 13 KO’s) vs. Lucas Matthysse (28-1 KO’s). This will be one to watch with Devon looking to avenge the first loss of his professional career.
About Today’s Guest, Devon Alexander:
Devon grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of north St. Louis, in an area described as downtrodden, rough, gang- and drug-infested. He joined the boxing gym that Kevin Cunningham, a former police officer turned trainer, founded in the basement of an old police station.Devon had an outstanding amateur career, compiling a record of 300-10 under the tutelage of Cunningham. He was a four-time Silver Gloves champion from ages 10–14; three-time PAL national champion; Junior Golden Gloves and Junior Olympics national champion; 2003 United States national champion in the 19-and-under division; and 2004 United States light welterweight national champion. He made it to the final round of the 2004 Olympic trials, where he battled Rock Allen to a draw and was knocked down once before losing on a tie-breaker.
At age 17, Devon made his professional debut, defeating Vincent Torres by first round technical knockout in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. He was victorious in his second pro fight against Karl Hunter on February 5, 2005. Alexander defeated Donovan Castaneda by unanimous decision in front of 22,370 spectators, the second-largest crowd in history to witness a boxing event in an indoor arena at the Savvis Center in St. Louis, Missouri. Alexander’s mentor, Cory Spinks, headlined the card opposing Zab Judah.

About Today’s Guest, Kerry Robinson:
Kerry played Major League baseball for the Cardinals/Padres/Royals/Reds/Devil Rays from 1998-2006. Remember those dates as they were, in many cases, the huge bulk era in the game (cough..steroids…cough). But, Kerry was really a player from another era. As opposed to pure power, his game was based on speed. And he is a great guy.I was lucky enough to meet Kerry a couple of years ago in St. Louis. In fact, he came out to an event we were doing with Anna Kournikova called Summer Business Break. Just an overall good guy. Enjoy this interview where I reminisce on his time in the major leagues and catch up with Kerry.

About Today’s Guest, Ted DiBiase:
Especially excited for today’s episode with wrestling icon and WWE hall-of-famer, The Million Dollar Man Ted DiBiase.
Ted DiBiase has been involved in the world of professional wrestling his entire life. His stepfather, wrestler “Iron Mike” DiBiase, began the tradition and had a strong influence on him as a child. He died in the ring when Ted was fifteen. Shortly after, his mother slipped into a depression and turned to alcohol. Ted moved into a little town in southern Arizona to live with his grandparents. After Ted’s junior year in college at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, he stepped into the squared circle to follow in his father’s footsteps. After wrestling in Amarillo, Texas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Ted moved to Atlanta to continue his wrestling career. While there he met his future wife Melanie and they were married in 1981. Ted’s wrestling engagements kept him away from her, while ego, pride, and money took center stage. After the birth of their first son Teddy, the DiBiase’s moved to Mississippi where he continued wrestling for Mid-South Wrestling. Ted was hoping that the World Wrestling Federation (WWE) would take notice of his talent. The WWE did take notice. They had an idea for a new character and developed Ted into the “Million Dollar Man” and he was surrounded by money, limousines and life in the fast lane. Through hard work and much determination he quickly rose to the top of his profession where he has remained for the past twenty years.
Ted’s career as a wrestler has taken him all over the world; all over Europe, Japan, India, Canada, and all of the fifty states, including Alaska and Hawaii. Ted has held many wrestling titles over his expansive career not withstanding, “The World Championship Title.” He has wrestled alone, as part of a tag team, and in recent years as the role of manager. You may also have heard him at times behind the camera as he often commentated and did color commentating for World Championship Wrestling.
Due to a neck injury several years ago, Ted was forced to give up the physical side of professional wrestling. He acted as a ringside manager in both the WWE (Andre the Giant, Steve Austin) and WCW (Steiner Brothers). While with WCW, Ted appeared on Ted Turner’s cable networks “Monday Nitro” and “Thursday Thunder” TV programs, and acted as creative consultant to EA Sports for their WCW Mayhem video game designed for the Sony Saturn and N64 game systems. He also traveled the Nascar circuit as a WCW representative. Ted’s WCW contract expired in 1999, and since then, Ted has taken on new roles outside of professional wrestling. He is a spokesperson for the Sunshine Foundation, an organization that grants wishes for critically ill children, and has founded Heart of David Ministries (for which he travels the world as an evangelist furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ). Also through Heart of David Ministries, Ted shares his prayer of hope all over America in motivational assemblies speaking out against the results of drug and alcohol abuse – warning America’s youth about the trap of being addicted to drugs and alcohol. He also encourages them to stay in school, set reachable goals and pay whatever price it takes to become the best that they can be. Ted’s speaking ministry is not focused only on youth. He actually has an even stronger message for “macho men” and struggling married couples. He speaks at men’s meetings, whole church congregations, and special events. He has started his own small federation which is run as an outreach of Heart of David Ministry. Along with this he is presently considering starting his own wrestling school.
