Ask David: Help! How do I make better videos online (without spending a bunch of bling)?

GREAT question this week that has come in from literally around 200.5 people (that .5 person is a little kid or something)

David, I totally get the importance of creating online videos. The problem is, um, my videos are sorta crappy. Is there a way I can make them more engaging/entertaining/awesome without hiring Steven Spielberg or something?

OK, no BS or fluffy bunnies, let’s get to it.

But wait, little problem. Today is a Jewish Holiday (Happy New Year!) and I’ve got the floor hockey championships Wednesday night (yes, seriously)….

    James makes several excellent points. I especially like the point about cranking up your own energy. Now, a few questions. 1) Make Videos Shorter. Hmm… Can that be applied to an interview show? I feel like the point of an interview show is to delve deep. 2) Music… Same question. Not sure I’d want music playing during an interview. For intros and ending, yes. But also, don’t you have to site the songs correctly if you are monetizing? 3) Several people I have spoken with have said they think being able to split longer videos into different segments is a good idea because some people only want to watch a certain part of the video. I wish YouTube had that option. Thoughts on that?

      Alexa – Definitely advice more for short form videos (like this one and of course even shorter) :) I see interview strategy and short form strategy as two different things if that makes sense.
