Ask David: Why Should I Create My Own Online Course?

“Hey, David! I’m getting excited about creating an online course, but I was just curious…what do you see as the benefits of creating a high-end online course ($197-$1,000 or over…) vs. doing a lower priced product (like $7) or one-on-one coaching?”

-Karen

A wonderful, wondrous question that I take on in today’s DSG TV. Watch below and make sure to jump into the conversation in the comments section. Enjoy!

I use RISE partner LeadPlayer for DSG TV, which helps me build my list with video. Check ‘em out here.

REMINDER: Contest! Citrix Online (our loyal sponsor of RISE) reached out to me and asked me if I wanted to give away a custom-engraved, brand spankin’ new, The Rise To The Top autographed iPad. I was all like…yeah! So, I have this autographed iPad and it is going to one of you. Here is how it works.

Between now and March 18th, to enter the giveaway simply TWEET your answer to this question (use hashtags #RISEfreeipad and #gotomeeting):

So, it’s freakin’ winter and it sucks. If you could host a meeting ANYWHERE using GoToMeeting, where would it be AND WHY?

Make sure to use the #RISEfreeipad and #gotomeeting hashtags! And you can do it as many times as you want! Looking forward to hooking someone up. Uncle David loves you.

David, I love that you mentioned kettlebells in this video. That’s exactly what I’m working on right now! Thanks for the advice. Your media is a great help!

Relevant to me just now as I overhaul my business model. Has been something I’ve weighed up over and over…. cheap and lots or $$$ and fewer?! Still on the fence.

Laura – Great to hear. I have a strong view on that question (based on my experience and others) that I’ll be sharing as part of http://www.therisetothetop.com/courses for sure

Laura, I don’t think it’s an either/or dichotomy… We’ve seen many people use both lower-priced courses and higher-priced flagship programs as part of their overall business model.

For example, Jenny Blake offers an on-demand course called Design Your Life at $97 (http://www.lifeaftercollege.org/shop/design-your-life/), as well as a flagship $400 program (with limited-time launches – http://make-shit-happen.com).

That said, curious to hear more of David’s perspective on this.
