How Perfect Business Co-Founder Dan Bliss Is Getting People To Pay For Content

The debate over “Will people pay for online content?” and “Is it a viable business model?” rages on. Will the future be centered around ad-supported and sponsored content? Or will users pay directly? And what will users pay for because there is so much “free information” out there?
And of course “paying for content” has many different meanings. It could be you pay for access to articles and videos. It could be that you pay for access to a forum or community around a topic (“membership site”). It could be a combination or something else entirely.
This topic has been discussed on RISE a few times including the article “Are Paid Online Communities A Sustainable Business Model”, and a special interview with Kevin Miller who talked about how he built a successful membership site.
In fact, recently Howard Stern mentioned he might move his content to the Internet and charge a small monthly fee. Author and media influencer Jeff Jarvis explains right here about why he would pay for it.
Which brings us to today’s guest, Dan Bliss. Dan is the Co-Founder of Perfect Business, which is a community of startups and entrepreneurs looking to grow their business. In this interview, Dan explains the Perfect Business “Freemium” model, how it got started, finding the right partners, and much more. There are many delicious nuggets to help you with your business.
And….I will be out at the Perfect Business Summit in Las Vegas on October 7th and 8th. (UPDATE: Due to a scheduling conflict I won’t be able to make it out there for the event…but I’m sure it is going to kick major butt!) There are over 60 (yes SIXTY) entrepreneurs speaking (I will be moderating/interviewing at least one of them), including some former RISE interviewees such as Tony Hsieh (Zappos) and Ali Brown (Ali International). Come out and join. You can click on this affiliate link to get $50 off or enter the promo code RISE. Hope to see you there.
