Check out the latest interviews with Mark Sawyier.
In the summer of 2005 while an intern at Bear Stearns, Mark Sawyier founded Movingoffcampus.com, with the goal of helping students find apartments near their university. Working as Chief Executive Officer for over 2 years, Mark has overseen every aspect of Movingoffcampus.com’s operations, website and marketing strategy and development, management, territorial expansion and sales.
During the 2006-2007 period, Movingoffcampus.com made great strides, dramatically increasing its userbase, property portfolio and successfully launching at five different universities in three different states.
Over the next few months, Mark will be redeveloping the strategy, concept and movingoffcampus.com business model to maximize its utility for users and website traffic. To this end, Mark will oversee the website’s content expansion to include information on public transportation, local neighborhoods, local businesses and the implementation of various new services for its users.
Mark is a licensed Real Estate Broker in Missouri and Tennessee. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Washington University in St. Louis in May 2007 where he majored in International and Area Studies and Spanish. Mark is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French.
How do you reach college students? They are glued to Facebook. They click on stuff (what are they clicking on?) Do they trust their friends? Do they read the newspaper (haha)? Can they all be pigeonholed or is every student really different? Even though I’m only a few years removed from college, the world is changing so fast that I barely recognize today’s college students. However, Mark Sawyier founder of Off Campus Media does recognize them. He studies them (non creepily). He talks with them. And he has real data (who would have thought?!). They also have a nice blog just building up some steam. Enjoy the talk by Mark.
